Job summary

The International Association-Fire Chiefs is seeking a Deputy Fire Chief to lead strategic planning, organize resources, and coordinate operations of the fire department. You will supervise staff, develop policies, and ensure timely responses to major emergencies while maintaining fiscal discipline and accountability.

The role requires extensive leadership experience in fire services, knowledge of NIMS and incident management, and the ability to act as Fire Chief in absence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 120 credits in fire science, public/business administration or related field.
• Three years as Chief Fire Officer in a similar department.
• Ten years in progressively responsible fire department roles.

Responsibilities

• Structures and delegates department assignments; manages projects.
• Strategic planning and directing department activities and personnel.
• Responds to major emergencies and commands as needed.
• Prepares and administers the Fire Department budget; reports and records.
• Develops and implements departmental policies and general orders.
