Job summary

The City of Carmel is seeking an exceptional Fire Chief to lead a dynamic department and advance public safety for a growing community in Indiana. This executive role demands strategic vision, operational excellence and the ability to guide a team of dedicated firefighters, officers and staff.

You will set priorities, manage a multi-million dollar budget, ensure training and compliance, and build strong partnerships with regional partners while serving as the department’s Incident Commander

Qualifications

• Senior level fire-service leadership with 15+ years experience.
• Captain or higher rank for 5+ years.
• Indiana certifications listed are required.
• Strong decision-making and communication under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership for the Carmel Fire Department and set strategic goals.
• Lead, develop and empower firefighters, officers and future leaders.
• Serve as Incident Commander during major fires and emergencies.
• Develop policies, programs and operational strategies for community needs.
• Develop and administer the department budget and ensure readiness.
