Reports To: Executive Leadership

Overview:

ReadyToWork® is seeking an entrepreneurial and mission-driven Executive Director, Training & Workforce Development to lead the organization's next stage of growth. This is a builder role, not simply a training administration position.

The Executive Director will provide strategic, operational, and commercial leadership for ReadyToWork®, with responsibility for expanding workforce-development programs, increasing trainee participation, developing employer and community partnerships, establishing apprenticeship and workforce pipeline programs, diversifying revenue and funding sources, and building the organizational infrastructure required for sustainable growth.

The Executive Director will be expected to combine workforce-development expertise with strong business acumen, relationship development, organizational leadership, and an entrepreneurial approach to growth. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to build a dedicated ReadyToWork® team and help position the organization for long-term independence and expanded geographic impact.

As ReadyToWork® grows, this position may provide a pathway to broader executive leadership, including potential consideration for a future President role based upon organizational needs and demonstrated results.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute ReadyToWork® strategic growth plan.
  • Drive revenue growth and long-term financial sustainability.
  • Expand trainee participation and workforce development impact.
  • Identify new markets, programs, customers, and growth opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strategic employer and corporate partnerships.
  • Develop relationships with workforce boards, colleges, economic-development organizations, and community partners.
  • Create apprenticeship, internship, work-based learning, and career pathway programs.
  • Align training programs with employer needs and evolving workforce demands.
  • Lead business development, proposals, presentations, and partnership opportunities.
  • Pursue grants, sponsorships, employer funding, and other revenue sources.
  • Lead grant and funding opportunities from development through execution.
  • Develop annual business plans, budgets, revenue forecasts, and growth priorities.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs for revenue, participation, partnerships, funding, and program outcomes.
  • Build scalable systems and processes to support organizational growth.
  • Recruit, lead, develop, and retain a high-performing ReadyToWork® team.
  • Foster an entrepreneurial, accountable, collaborative, and results-driven culture.
  • Represent ReadyToWork® with employers, educators, workforce organizations, funders, and community stakeholders.
  • Strengthen ReadyToWork® brand, market presence, and value proposition.
  • Lead expansion into new geographic markets and workforce-development opportunities.
  • Build the organizational and financial foundation for ReadyToWork® to operate as a sustainable, stand-alone organization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • 8+ years of significant progressive leadership experience in workforce development, workforce education, economic development, apprenticeship, employer partnerships, training, business development, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience developing programs, partnerships, organizations, or business lines.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage relationships with senior business leaders and external stakeholders.
  • Experience developing employer, education, community, or workforce ecosystem partnerships.
  • Strong business and financial acumen.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into measurable execution.
  • Excellent executive communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
  • Familiarity with AI tools to optimize workforce development across the organization
  • Business Intelligence data analytic skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic organizational structure where flexibility and teamwork are essential elements of success
