Job summary

Mercy in Rogers, AR seeks an Executive Director of Quality and Safety to provide operational oversight for clinical quality programs required by CMS and payer value-based initiatives, with a focus on improving outcomes, maximizing value and minimizing patient harm.

The role leads a team of improvement professionals, partners with Mercy leaders, and oversees areas such as infection prevention, patient safety and clinical improvement, shaping enterprise strategy for quality across the care

Qualifications

  • MBA, MHA, MPH or MS in nursing.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of direct healthcare management experience with significant experience in project management, improvement, clinical performance programs, clinical operations, analytics and professional report preparation.
  • Strong understanding of clinical quality measures, e.g., HEDIS, and CMS and commercial programs.
  • Ability to build relationships across departments; strong relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to lead Mercy-wide initiatives with specific deliverables.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in application of information technology solutions to varying settings, i.e., clinical and operational.
  • Strong project organization and delivery management skills to synchronize the efforts of multiple teams on a consolidated timeline.
  • Strong problem, workflow, and data analysis skills.
  • Self-motivated and proactively takes responsibility for driving tasks through to successful completion.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, with an overall passion for continual improvement.
  • Strong conceptual thinking skills.

Under the direction of the Chief Quality Officer, the Executive Director Quality and Safety provides the operational oversight for clinical quality program deliverables required by national clinical quality programs, CMS and commercial payor value-based programs, and quality and patient safety initiatives of Mercy. Under the direction of the Chief Quality Officer and working in partnership with other Mercy leaders, this individual will direct, oversee, plan, coordinate and evaluate a comprehensive approach to improve clinical outcomes, enhance value, and minimize patient harm.

The Executive Director brings an enterprise view to interpretation of CMS and other payer value-based programs, facilitates the building of capacity, expertise and resources needed for success within these programs and oversees a team of improvement professionals to drive top performance and support excellence across the care continuum. The role may oversee functional areas within Mercys quality and safety structure such as infection prevention, patient safety and/or clinical improvement.

Position Details:
Required Education/Skills/Experience:

Preferred Experience:
  • Experience with CMS or commercial payor programs that involve quality and revenue, e.g., Medicare Advantage, Quality Payment Program, Meaningful Use, CMS MSSP ACO
  • Experience in leading efforts associated with reporting of quality measures, e.g., HEDIS
  • Knowledge of quality improvement tools and techniques
