Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking a Senior Director of Perioperative Services to provide senior operational leadership for perioperative operations at Jacobs Medical Center. You will report to the Chief Administrative Officer for Perioperative Services and lead Directors, Managers, and other leaders to translate strategic priorities into operational results.

The role involves ensuring safe, efficient, patient-centered care, optimizing operating room utilization, and driving large-scale improvement

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing and active RN license in California.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive healthcare leadership experience in perioperative or complex acute-care operations.
• Strong communications and interpersonal skills to promote a shared governance model across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive oversight for perioperative operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and patient-centered delivery of care.
• Translate organizational strategy into operational priorities, performance goals, and actionable implementation plans.
• Lead and develop Directors, Managers, and other operational leaders, fostering accountability and collaboration.
• Serve as the senior operational escalation point for complex issues and critical decision-making.
• Drive performance across perioperative services focusing on access, throughput, and capacity management.
• Partner with clinical and administrative leaders to optimize operating room utilization and growth initiatives.
• Lead large-scale operational improvement efforts across multiple departments.
• Oversee operating and capital budgets and ensure responsible management of labor, supplies, and equipment.
• Utilize data to guide decisions, improve performance, and identify opportunities for growth and efficiency.
• Support capital planning and investments to advance priorities.
• Ensure systems support high-quality care, patient safety, and regulatory readiness.
• Lead corrective actions arising from safety events or regulatory findings.
• Build strong relationships with physician leaders and administrative partners.
