Job summary

The Baker Center for Children and Families (Judge Baker Children’s Center) seeks an experienced Executive Director to lead the NEACWCD, connecting six New England public child welfare agencies in CT, ME, MA, NH, RI, and VT. The role blends strategic leadership with practical oversight and funding development.

The Executive Director will foster kin-first practices, authentic youth and family engagement, and cross-state collaboration on permanency, workforce development, and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level education in social work, public administration, or related field; Master’s preferred.
• Experience in child welfare, human services, or nonprofit leadership.
• Strong leadership and coordination of cross-state initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Build trusted relationships with Commissioners, Directors, and senior leaders across six New England states.
• Translate member priorities into regional initiatives and learning opportunities.
• Design and facilitate leadership meetings, multi-state collaboratives, institutes, and peer learning.
• Foster candid discussion and consensus among six independent state agencies.
• Monitor federal policy, research, and practices; connect members to experts and resources.
• Develop and lead grant-funded initiatives; oversee consultants, partners, and evaluation.
• Provide leadership for youth engagement with lived experience across initiatives.
• Oversee finances, contracts, operations, grants, and sustainability.
• Represent NEACWCD in regional and national initiatives and conferences.
