Job summary

Blue Star Families is seeking an Executive Director for the National Capital Region (NCR) Chapter, based in the Washington, DC area with a hybrid work model. The role leads local strategy, fundraising, programs, and staff, aiming to grow annual revenue to seven figures and strengthen partnerships with government, foundations, and corporate partners.

The ED will report to the VP of Chapter Impact and Outposts, travel regionally, and reside in or have residence in the DMV area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in nonprofit leadership or strategic partnerships.
• Proven six-figure fundraising success with potential seven-figure growth.
• Experience working with Congress, government agencies, or political campaigns in Washington, DC.
• Exceptional executive communication skills; ability to represent senior leaders in high-visibility settings.
• Strong organizational management skills including budgeting, planning, KPI accountability, and team development.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate relationships with Congress, staff, Administration officials and other political figures to advance BSF priorities.
• Serve as liaison to BSF National Headquarters and coordinate chapter activity with national strategy.
• Lead Chapter Sustainability Plan to achieve $1M+ annual revenue and donor stewardship.
• Recruit, manage, coach, and develop staff and volunteers; represent BSF in the region.
• Recruit and steward a local Advisory Board with political/government representation.
• Build a network of partners to expand BSF's regional presence and impact.
