Job summary

The Cahn Fellowship seeks an Executive Director to lead a national program for cultivating high-performing public school principals. Based in New York City or a major Partner City, you will report to the Board of Directors and oversee fundraising, program excellence, and external relations.

The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on management across finance, marketing, and partnerships. Expect travel about 20% and a compensation package of $200,000–$250,000 plus a performance-based

Qualifications

• Experience leading and fundraising for a not-for-profit organization, preferably within public education.
• Strong intellectual, analytical, and strategic thinking ability.
• Ability to imagine and execute broad, far-reaching strategy, combined with a willingness to roll up one’s sleeves and take on smaller tasks.

Responsibilities

• Lead fundraising efforts across individual donors, foundations, and Partner City districts - key success factor #1
• Ensure exceptional program quality - key success factor #2
• Cultivate relationships with Partner City school district leadership - key success factor #3
• Direct financial management, marketing and communications efforts
• Sustain a collaborative, invigorating relationship with the Board of Directors and staff
• Travel approximately 20% of the time, with the remaining 80% conducted remotely
