A Brief Overview

The Executive Director, Global Marketing Downstream is accountable for defining, governing, and advancing the global downstream marketing strategy, operating model, and commercial activation roadmap for the injectables and medical device portfolio. This role translates enterprise brand and portfolio priorities into scalable global strategies that drive regional activation, launch readiness, customer engagement, and long‑term commercial impact. The role applies organization‑wide marketing expertise, broad knowledge of related disciplines, and mastery of market dynamics, customer insights, regulatory considerations, competitive trends, and financial drivers to guide strategic decisions and advise senior stakeholders across the entire organization.

What You Will Do
  • Marketing Strategy:
    • Define, govern, and evolve the global downstream marketing strategy and activation framework for the injectables and medical device portfolio, ensuring alignment with enterprise brand priorities, lifecycle strategy, customer needs, market dynamics, regulatory considerations, regional commercial requirements, and long‑term growth objectives.
  • Campaign Development and Execution:
    • Establish global campaign strategy, messaging architecture, content governance, and activation standards for priority brands, launches, relaunches, geographic expansion, and portfolio‑level growth initiatives. Ensure global campaign frameworks are scalable, locally adaptable, compliant, insight‑driven, and linked to measurable commercial outcomes.
    • Oversee the creation of high‑impact content, including digital assets, educational materials, product messaging, and promotional campaigns, ensuring alignment with brand and regulatory guidelines.
  • Social Media Strategy:
    • Oversee global social media strategy, leveraging digital platforms to enhance brand visibility, customer engagement, and lead generation.
    • Use digital and social insights to anticipate customer and market shifts, inform global brand strategy, shape engagement models, and guide regional adoption of innovative activation approaches.
  • Cross‑Functional Leadership and Collaboration:
    • Lead enterprise‑level cross‑functional alignment across Global Marketing, Franchise Leads, Global Medical Affairs, Corporate Communications, Regional Marketing, Product Management, Upstream Marketing, Supply Chain, Regulatory, Legal, and Commercial teams to translate portfolio strategy into globally consistent and regionally executable downstream activation plans.
    • Ensure a smooth transition from product development/ positioning and/ or geographic expansion to market delivery.
    • Resolve complex and ambiguous trade‑offs across global brand priorities, regional market needs, compliance requirements, resource allocation, timing, and commercial opportunities to ensure effective market delivery and sustainable business impact.
  • Strategic Communications:
    • Shape the global strategic communications architecture for downstream marketing, ensuring commercial, scientific, and brand messaging is integrated, compliant, customer‑relevant, globally consistent, and aligned to enterprise portfolio priorities.
    • Advise senior stakeholders on message strategy, market implications, customer engagement risks, regional adaptation needs, and governance requirements for priority brands, launches, and portfolio initiatives.
  • Commercial Results:
    • Define the global downstream marketing performance framework, including KPIs, insight routines, campaign effectiveness measures, launch readiness indicators, and regional performance feedback loops. Translate market, customer, financial, and campaign analytics into strategic recommendations that influence portfolio priorities, strategy‑optimization, marketing investment, resource allocation, and long‑term commercial outcomes.
    • Guide major optimization and change initiatives to improve global marketing effectiveness, scalability, compliance, and commercial impact across regions.
  • Compliance and Ethics:
    • Establish and reinforce global downstream marketing governance in partnership with Regulatory, Medical, Legal, Compliance, and regional stakeholders, ensuring marketing strategies, claims, digital activation, social engagement, and promotional materials comply with applicable requirements and company standards.
    • Anticipate regulatory, reputational, and commercial risks in global downstream activation and guide teams in making compliant, customer‑focused, and commercially sound decisions.
  • Team Leadership and Development:
    • Build, mentor, and lead a high‑performing global downstream marketing team.
    • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability across all regions.
    • Guide others in navigating change, building high‑performing project teams, and adopting global standards that improve consistency, scalability, and impact across regions.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Marketing or equivalent of directly relevant experience
  • 15+ years Experience and demonstrated skills in developing, managing, and delivering communication strategies and plans in a mid‑large complex organization
  • 5+ years of experience leading diverse teams or functions
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree Marketing or equivalent of directly relevant experience
  • Experience in beauty/aesthetic/pharma sector strongly preferred
  • Consumer product knowledge/background
Technical & Functional Skills
  • Executive presence and exceptional presentation skills
  • Downstream Marketing experience
  • Product launch experience
  • Experience in working with global team across multiple time zones
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word and comfort with large variety of online meeting tools and AV equipment
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, capability of adapt your style to different audiences
  • Demonstrated history of teamwork and cross‑functional collaboration
  • Ability to course correct and to clearly and convincingly articulate plans
  • Deep understanding of brand management and portfolio management
  • Knowledge of multiple marketing disciplines, a strong marketing generalist with experience gained in an operative local marketing function and/or in a strategic headquarter function
  • Skilled in creating and fostering partnerships throughout an organization and able to navigate and influence successfully across level and functions
  • Ability to proactively identify opportunities and provide creative and resourceful solutions
  • Ability to manage conflicting points of view and arrive quickly at a solution that is in the best interests of the brand/business
