Job summary

NAMI Westchester is seeking an Executive Director to lead overall operations, programs and fundraising, reporting to the Board of Directors. This role emphasizes relationship building with community leaders, donors, and governmental partners to advance the organization’s mission in Westchester County.

The ED will guide strategic planning, ensure compliance with laws, and serve as a visible ambassador, balancing day-to-day management with long-term impact and sustainability for the nonprofit.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in a nonprofit or related organization.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with public speaking ability.
• Strategic planning and organizational leadership.
• Familiarity with Westchester County and its networks.
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships with community and civic leaders.
• Ability to manage day-to-day operations while guiding strategy.

Responsibilities

• Leads and aligns on mission, vision, strategy and values.
• Provides strategic leadership across programs and operations.
• Facilitates planning and growth while ensuring resilience.
• Acts as spokesperson and ambassador for the organization.
• Maintains understanding of applicable laws and regulations.
• Builds relationships with stakeholders and navigates Westchester networks.
• Oversees fundraising activities and donor cultivation.
• Manages staff, budgeting and organizational records.
• Supports Board of Directors with strategic guidance.
