Job summary

Congregation Shomrei Torah Santa Rosa is seeking an entrepreneurial Executive Director to lead our 500-family Reform Jewish community. The role partners with the Senior Rabbi, Board, staff, and congregants to strengthen visibility, deepen member engagement, cultivate philanthropy, and help shape a thriving spiritual home in Sonoma County.

The Executive Director will oversee strategy, operations, fundraising, and staff, building systems that support lifelong Jewish engagement and community impact.

Qualifications

• Minimum four years of leadership experience in a nonprofit, synagogue, or mission-driven organization.
• Proven success in leading and developing professional staff.
• Experience in fundraising, donor cultivation, grant management, or organizational development.
• Strong financial, operational, and organizational management skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building with clergy, staff, volunteers, and lay leaders.
• Experience working with volunteer boards and committees.
• Understanding of Reform Jewish life and Jewish calendar.
• Collaborative, reflective leadership with integrity and curiosity.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership guiding long-term vision with the Senior Rabbi and Board.
• Grow membership engagement, donor relations, and community partnerships.
• Oversee administrative operations, finance, facilities, and HR.
• Supervise staff and develop a culture of learning and accountability.
• Serve as a public ambassador and strengthen CST's visibility in Sonoma County.
