Job summary

Legal Aid Services of Oregon seeks an Executive Director to lead this civil legal aid organization as it begins its next chapter. The Executive Director will guide LASO’s eight regional offices and statewide programs, expanding access to justice and systemic change in Oregon.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Fundraising and/or grant writing knowledge and/or experience.
• Strategic and creative thinking to guide a statewide program.
• Proven leadership in managing a legal services organization or not-for-profit.
• Knowledge of laws affecting low-income people and justice advocacy.
• Experience building a team and supporting staff development.
• Ability to work with diverse perspectives including clients, staff, and officials.
• Professionalism, integrity, work ethic, empathy and collaborative spirit.
• Understanding of budgets, grants, contracts, and financial oversight.
• Licensed attorney with potential Oregon Bar admission.
• Ten years of legal experience or not-for-profit management experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an effective ambassador with client communities, funders, officials and partners.
• Expand corporate and foundation support and funding from legal community and donors.
• Foster statewide program culture with shared mission and consistent policies.
• Coordinate LASO services with Oregon Law Center for maximum impact.
• Maintain collaboration with other legal aid and antipoverty organizations.
• Provide leadership reflecting LASO values: access to justice and holistic client services.
• Communicate regularly with staff and Board and oversee fiscal operations.
• Implement LASO's strategic plan.
