Job summary

UCSF Foundation seeks an Executive Director to serve as CFO, overseeing finance, accounting, and reporting for the Foundation and related entities. You will lead treasury, tax compliance, and short-term investments, shaping policy modernization and automated processes to safeguard assets.

You will report to senior leadership, partner with campus finance, and guide a high-performing accounting team within UDAR to advance the university’s mission and fundraising impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related area or equivalent experience
• 10+ years in a complex accounting environment
• Knowledge of GASB and FASB guidance in accounting and financial reporting
• Supervisory experience in a Foundation or nonprofit finance function
• Advanced knowledge of financial policies, fund accounting, budgeting, and internal controls
• Strong negotiation, communication, and leadership skills
• Experience automating financial systems and improving processes

Responsibilities

• Direct finance, accounting, and financial reporting for UCSF Foundation and affiliated entities
• Serve as CFO for the UCSF Foundation, overseeing treasury, tax compliance, and short-term investments
• drive policy modernization, system automation, and internal controls to safeguard assets
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders and board committees to support philanthropic objectives
• Lead a multi-tier accounting and financial analysis team within UDAR
