Job summary

Loudoun County is seeking an experienced local government leader to serve as Director of Family Services. The role leads a comprehensive human services organization delivering mandated social services and programs that benefit families throughout Loudoun County.

The Director will guide strategic planning, financial stewardship, and operational performance, reporting to county leadership and serving on the executive leadership team.

Qualifications

• Master's degree plus directly related experience with increasing responsibility
• Experience in supervisory or management role
• Direct experience with children and families as part of VDSS requirements

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for Loudoun County Family Services
• Oversee budget development and fiscal stewardship for the department
• Ensure compliance with county, state and federal regulations and funding requirements
• Lead an executive leadership team delivering high‑quality services
• Collaborate with boards, partners and public agencies to advance social services priorities

Education

Master's degree in Social Work, Public Administration or related field
