Job summary

City of New York is seeking an Executive Director for Design and Project Management to lead the DCAS units responsible for design, construction, and relocation across City agencies. The role oversees directors and project managers, coordinating with landlords, DCAS, and other agencies to execute leases and built environment projects.

The position reports to the Assistant Commissioner and contributes to strategic capital planning, staffing, and budget development to support major City-wide

Qualifications

• Requires a baccalaureate degree in engineering, architecture, or related field and five years of full-time experience in planning, administering or expediting large engineering projects, with supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage Design and Project Management staff for agency project needs and space planning evolution.
• Assist in preparation and maintenance of capital and expense project budgets.
• Coordinate lease negotiations and design/construction lease articles with attorneys.
• Oversee coordination of construction, renovations and relocations for City agencies.
• Oversee project development, cost estimates, bid approvals, and landlord payments.
• Coordinate with Financial Services and Capital Budget to ensure funding within the agency budget.
• Collaborate with City departments to process furniture procurement and construction payments.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, architecture, landscape architecture, architectural technology, construction, construction management, sustainable design, urban planning, city planning, transportation planning, business administration, or public administration
