Job summary

The African American Heritage Museum of Southern New Jersey seeks an experienced nonprofit leader to serve as its first Executive Director. You will provide day-to-day leadership, build organizational and financial foundations, and work closely with the Board of Directors, Founding CEO, staff, donors, and community partners to advance the museum’s mission and long-term sustainability.

Qualifications

• Proven nonprofit leadership or senior management experience.
• Experience managing staff, budgets, and operations.
• Fundraising, grants, donor cultivation, and financial management experience.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders and work with a Board.
• Commitment to African American history and culture.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day museum operations and administration.
• Develop and implement strategic priorities with measurable goals.
• Strengthen operations, fundraising, and partnerships.
• Oversee budgeting and financial performance.
• Collaborate with the Board, Founding CEO, staff, donors, and partners.
• Represent the museum in community and external events.
• Support exhibitions, programs, and mission alignment.
