Job summary

The City of Palm Coast seeks a Director of Community Development to lead the Community Development Department, overseeing planning, code compliance, and permitting while ensuring compliance with applicable codes and regulations.

The role requires executive leadership, strategic planning, and strong collaboration with the City Council, departments, and external partners to advance City initiatives and maintain high standards for the built environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Urban Planning, Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of professional community development/city planning experience; 4+ years in staff/program management.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Direct professional, technical, managerial, and administrative work over the Community Development Department.
• Ensure compliance with City, State, and Federal codes governing housing, development, and inspections.
• Develop strategies to advance City initiatives and strengthen business friendliness while maintaining high standards for the built environment.
• Oversee budgeting, reporting, and interdepartmental coordination.
