Job summary

The City of Austin seeks a Senior Manager, Leadership to oversee Finance, Asset Management, Business Operations, Inventory Management, and Occupational Safety. You will lead budgeting, performance measurement and reporting to City executives, developing and implementing strategic plans across divisions.

Ideal candidates bring change management experience, strong cross‑functional leadership, and data‑driven decision making, with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus five years of department-wide budget/program experience, with three years in supervision.
• Master’s degree may substitute for two years of managerial experience.
• Experience in budgeting, forecasting and performance measurement preferred.
• Knowledge of Federal, State and Local laws related to municipal operations.
• Strong supervisory and organizational leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee multiple divisions within the department, coordinating budgets and initiatives.
• Prepare and present financial forecasts, performance metrics, and budget documents to senior leadership.
• Lead strategic planning, vendor management, and program development across units.
• Communicate with City Officials, executives, and stakeholders to drive initiatives.
