Job summary

Birch, Stewart, Kolasch & Birch, LLP is seeking an Executive Director/ CFO to oversee all administrative operations in a high-production IP law firm environment near Washington, DC. The role supports Executive Committee decisions, manages budgeting, and coordinates cross-functional administration including HR, accounting, IT, facilities, and marketing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance required; graduate degree strongly preferred
• CPA license required (may be inactive)
• Minimum 5–7 years of accounting and reporting experience
• Experience in an intellectual property law firm or professional services environment preferred
• Solid knowledge of technical tools such as Excel and report writing

Responsibilities

• Attend Executive Committee and Partnership meetings; draft agendas, keep minutes, publish minutes to Partners
• Oversee budgeting, financial reporting and cash outlays
• Direct supervision of Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology, Facilities, and Library managers
• Prepare and interpret management reports
• Formulate annual capital and operating budget proposals
• Monitor insurance of all types
• Keep Executive Committee informed of unusual events that could impact the firm
• Other duties as assigned
