Governors State University seeks an Executive Director for the Center for Performing Arts to provide visionary leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight of all programming, education initiatives, and community engagement.
Reporting to the Division of Arts and Letters, the ED will drive revenue generation, partnerships, and fundraising while guiding staff and budgeting to maintain the center as a premier regional arts destination in the south suburbs of Chicago.

The Executive Director of the Center for Performing Arts(CPA) serves as the General Manager and artistic leader of theCenter and is responsible for providing visionary leadership,strategic direction, and operational oversight for all performingarts programming, educational initiatives, community engagementactivities, and business operations. Reporting to the Chair,Division of Arts andLetters and serving as a key leadership member of thecollege and university, the Executive Director advances the missionof Governors State University by positioning the Center as apremier regional destination for arts, culture, education, andcommunity engagement.
45% Oversee all daily operations of the Center of PerformingArts, providing fiscal input and direction of the budget, for theCenter of Performing Arts. Identify, lead, and enhancerevenue-generating efforts focused on sustainability and financialself-sufficiency through earned revenue and contributed revenuesources such as grants and program sponsorships in collaborationwith the GovState Foundation, in the development of revenue andgift fund raising efforts. Provide effective leadership andmanagement of CPA’s human and financial resources consistent withthe strategic direction of GovState.
30% Work collaboratively with internal and external partnersto develop revenue generating multi-year artistic andarts-in-education programming consistent with GovState’s missionand position as an arts and arts education venue in the southsuburbs of Chicago. Negotiate, create, and review artists’contracts and appearance arrangements in collaboration with campusstakeholders including the Office of the General Counsel,Procurement and Business Services, University Events, Department ofPublic Safety, and Facilities. Collaborate with the Marketing andCommunications team in developing promotional materials and relateditems to publicize the CPA programming.
15% As part of the College of Arts and Sciences, leadcollaborative efforts to engage with the campus community, faculty,staff, and students, in the CPA. Work across the university to usethe CPA spaces for internal events to maximize the Center.
5% Collaborates with the CPA Advisory Board to identifyemerging opportunities, community needs, and programmaticinitiatives that enhance the Center's impact. Represent the CPA onvarious state and national boards and committees supportingcommunity arts, and community arts organizations asrecommended.
5% All other duties as assigned.
