Job summary

Rawls Museum Arts in Courtland, Virginia, seeks an Executive Director to provide leadership for artistic, educational, operational, financial, and community programs. This role collaborates with the Board, staff, volunteers, artists, donors, and partners to advance the museum’s mission.

The ideal candidate will have nonprofit leadership experience, strong arts appreciation, and the ability to be the museum’s primary ambassador while overseeing exhibitions, programs, fundraising, and day-to-day

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in arts administration or related fields.
• Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent public speaking and presentation abilities.
• Ability to manage budgets and financial responsibilities.
• Experience with grant writing and fundraising preferred.
• Experience supervising staff, contractors, and volunteers.
• Commitment to the arts and building connected communities.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership and management of Rawls Museum Arts.
• Develop strategic goals with the Board and communicate priorities.
• Serve as primary spokesperson at events and public engagements.
• Oversee exhibitions, programs, and community events.
• Lead fundraising efforts including grants, sponsorships, and memberships.
• Manage budget, finances, and compliance with grants.
• Supervise staff, contractors, and volunteers.
• Promote marketing and communications with staff and media.
