Animal Humane New Mexico seeks an Executive Director to lead a mission-driven organization in Albuquerque. You will oversee strategy, fundraising, program delivery, and multi-department operations, ensuring alignment with the board and community needs.

The role requires a senior nonprofit leader with a track record in fundraising, governance, and public engagement. AHNM offers relocation support and a strong benefits package in a center-city setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is required; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of senior leadership experience in nonprofit organizations.
• Proven success in fundraising and donor engagement.
• Experience working with a Board of Directors and nonprofit governance.
• Experience overseeing multi-department operations and complex organizational structures.
• Experience in animal welfare, social services, or mission-driven organizations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction aligned with AHNM's mission and goals; develop priorities with the Board.
• Lead the senior leadership team to strong organizational performance and program alignment.
• Monitor performance and community impact, fostering collaboration and mission-driven work.
• Serve as primary staff liaison to the Board and support governance activities.
• Partner with the Board President on agendas and fundraising planning; support board engagement.
• Ensure bylaws compliance and nonprofit governance best practices.
• Oversee Marketing & Development, Volunteer Services, Veterinary Clinic, Programs, Finance, HR, and Admin; supervise the Executive Assistant.
• Ensure responsible financial management; oversee annual budget with Finance Director and Board.
• Lead fundraising strategy and donor engagement with Development/Marketing teams.
• Recruit, develop, and retain a strong leadership team; provide supervision and coaching.
• Foster a culture of compassion, respect, and accountability for staff and volunteers.
• Serve as primary spokesperson and ambassador; build relationships with donors and partners.
• Represent AHNM at events and in media to raise visibility and sector leadership.
