Job summary

Animal Humane New Mexico is seeking an Executive Director to provide visionary leadership and strategic direction, ensuring operational excellence across departments in service of the organization’s lifesaving mission.

This on-site role in Albuquerque leads fundraising, community partnerships, program oversight, and public advocacy, reporting to the Board and guiding senior leadership to sustained impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of senior leadership experience in nonprofit settings.
• Proven success in fundraising, donor engagement, and cultivating donor relationships.
• Experience working with or reporting to a Board of Directors; nonprofit governance knowledge.
• Strong public speaking and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction aligned with the mission.
• Serve as primary staff liaison to the Board and support governance.
• Oversee multiple departments including Marketing, Finance, HR, Programs, and Operations.
• Lead fundraising strategy and donor engagement efforts; cultivate major gifts.
• Represent the organization publicly and build community partnerships.
