Job Description:


Position Summary:

Responsible for all aspects of facilities management, includingday-to-day maintenance, rehabilitation, and capital projects;planning, budgeting, and cost-containment; staffing; and regulatoryrequirements. Ensures compliance with local, state, and federalregulatory requirements as well as University policies relating tophysical plant. Serves as the liaison between members of theUniversity community, contracted professionals, and servicevendors.



Responsibilities:


  • Establishes priorities and coordinates deployment of resourcesto meet the University's day-to-day operational needs and toschedule repair and renovation projects.

  • Manages renovation and new construction projects and assistsmembers of the University community in planning and budgeting forsaid projects.

  • Works closely with senior administrators to develop and managethe capital budget and long-term master plan for campus buildingsand infrastructure.

  • Maintains effective communications with administration,faculty, staff, students, vendors, engineers, architects, andconsultants, as it relates to the physical plant.

  • Serves on University committees for short and long-termplanning needs and for ADA compliance.

  • Monitors and ensures adherence to preventative maintenanceschedules.

  • Ensures compliance with environmental, health, and safetyregulations by leading, supervising, and assessing the Director ofEnvironmental Health and Conservation's performance.

  • Develops energy and cost-savings plans and programs.

  • Works closely with the Financial Affairs team to ensurecompliance with University Finance and Procurement Policies andProcedures. Reviews and approves departmental purchases. Preparesthe annual capital and operating budgets, and monitorsandreconciles all departmental accounts monthly.

  • Takes an active role in the development of the University'sstrategic and operational plans as required by leadership.Develops, implements, and assesses operational goals that supportinstitutional success.

  • Responsible for working with the supervisor and other teammembers to achieve successful results on all established individualand departmental goals and key performance indicators.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.



Requirements:

Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's preferred in the field ofprofessional engineering or a related field.

  • Minimum five years of hands-on training in buildingconstruction trades and facilities management.

  • Minimum five years' experience in budgeting, strategicplanning, and project management.

  • Proven record of successful supervisory experiencerequired.

  • A strong working knowledge of HVAC and electrical systemoperations, governmental health, safety, and environmentalrequirements, and applicable building codes.



Skills/Abilities:


  • Must have excellent communication skills.

  • Must be able to respond to emergency calls, evaluate, and makecorrective decisions.

  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft products such asWord and Excel, and Gantt charts or other project managementtools.

  • Position requires being \"on-call\" and working occasional nightsand weekends as required.



Supervisory Responsibility:


  • Supervises the Director of Environmental Health andConservation.

  • Manages the custodial, maintenance, and grounds contract,working closely with key contracted staff members.



Driving Responsibility:


  • Requires a valid NYS driver's license.



Travel:


  • Must be willing and able to travel for the position.



Additional Information:

Starting salary at $105,000. Salary will depend on experience andyears of service for the selected candidate.
