Job summary

AltaGas Ltd. in Washington is seeking a Senior Advisor, Communications to serve as the lead strategic communications partner supporting Utilities leadership and key priorities. You will translate complex initiatives into compelling narratives for employees, customers, regulators, and media.

The role requires 7–10 years in communications, expertise in executive communications, media relations, and crisis management, and a Bachelor’s in a related field. Utilities/energy experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• 7-10 years of progressively responsible communications experience.
• Experience developing strategic communications plans and advising senior leaders.
• Experience in executive communications, speechwriting, media relations, issues management, and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to manage high-profile or sensitive communications challenges with confidence.
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Affairs, Government Relations, or related field.
• Experience with regulated utilities or energy sector is a plus.
• Experience managing executive social media and thought leadership programs is a plus.
• ICS training or emergency management experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary communications advisor to Utilities leadership, providing strategic counsel.
• Develop and execute integrated communications plans aligned with objectives.
• Lead executive communications, speeches, and talking points.
• Manage media relations and issues management.
• Coordinate crisis communications and incident response.
• Identify executive visibility opportunities at conferences and events.
• Collaborate with Public Affairs, Customer Experience, Operations, and others to align messaging.
