Job summary

Stellar Senior Living is hiring an Executive Chef to manage the entire food service operation for a large senior living community in Missoula, MT. The role includes overseeing breakfast, lunch, dinner, and events, supervising kitchen staff, and maintaining budgeted expenses.

You will lead menu development, ensure high-quality dining experiences for residents, and drive cost controls while upholding sanitation and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Culinary Arts degree from a recognized school and 2+ years related experience as an Executive Chef or Assistant Executive Chef in a comparable size food service operation.
• Five (5) years experience in kitchen work in medium to large organizations.
• 2+ years experience in hiring, training and managing food service personnel.
• Experience executing culinary techniques including menu design, food preparation and artistic food design. Knowledge of culinary terminology.
• Ability to operate computer equipment for data entry and retrieval.
• Must have ServSafe certificate (current).

Responsibilities

• Plan, test and assess cost of new menus and menu item.
• Maintain sanitation standards in accordance with the Department of Health.
• Lead cooks and other food service personnel in preparation, cooking, and service of items.
• Participate in interviewing and selection of food service personnel; handle hiring, termination, promotion, discipline, and recalls.
• Schedule staff with independent judgment and manage time-off requests.
• Read and understand financial performance and adjust activities accordingly.
• Purchase and maintain inventory of food products and kitchen supplies; perform month-end inventories.
