Job Summary: An inspirational and organized leader who ensures the success of daily kitchen operations, including recruiting, training, and food preparation. The Executive Chef showcases culinary talents through the delivery of show-quality food, develops and empowers onsite staff, and aims to improve satisfaction for residents, employees, and clients while maximizing financial performance. Responsibilities include meeting budgets, controlling food and labor costs, and ensuring food safety protocols are followed.

Leading Culinary Operation
  • Lead daily culinary production, ensuring food quality, presentation, safety, sanitation, team productivity, and profitability.
  • Determine food presentation and create decorative displays.
  • Develop menus based on product availability, incorporating seasonal ingredients.
  • Source fresh food, monitor produce and meat for freshness, and maintain product consistency.
  • Research customer preferences to develop menus with local flavors.
  • Prepare and cook foods for regular and special occasions.
  • Demonstrate new cooking techniques and supervise kitchen staff.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Guide and monitor staff performance, communicate safety procedures, and enforce food safety guidelines.
  • Maintain standards for purchasing, receiving, and food storage.
Business & Financial Acumen
  • Participate in developing and implementing business strategies aligned with client goals.
  • Manage department expenses, including food costs and supplies.
  • Develop purchasing and control procedures, analyze financial data, and adjust business plans accordingly.
  • Manage budgets, forecast expenses, and control costs.
  • Oversee food inventory, purchasing, and staff scheduling.
Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service
  • Create resident satisfaction through staff training and resource provision.
  • Engage professionally with residents and staff, understanding guest needs, and coaching staff to improve service.
  • Handle guest feedback and complaints effectively.
Team Building and Management
  • Lead team meetings, set performance and team goals.
  • Gather employee feedback, promote engagement, and ensure fair treatment.
  • Provide training, tools, and ongoing performance feedback to staff.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A.S. degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of progressive culinary management experience, catering experience is a plus.
  • High-volume, complex foodservice experience preferred.
  • Hands-on chef experience required.
  • Knowledge of food trends, sanitation, and cost controls.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and internet applications.
  • ServSafe certification is highly desirable.
