Job summary

Joseph’s Classic Market in New York State is seeking an Executive Chef to own the culinary operation and lead from the kitchen. This hands-on leadership role will develop a strong team, uphold restaurant‑quality standards, and build a thriving Prepared Foods department customers love.

You will drive daily production, manage purchasing and inventory, and optimize food cost and labor while maintaining safety and consistency across all offerings.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–3 years of kitchen management or high‑volume food production experience.
• Strong knowledge of cooking methods, ingredients, recipes, equipment and procedures.
• Proven ability to lead, coach, and hold a culinary team accountable.

Responsibilities

• Own daily production, purchasing, inventory, pars, food cost, labor and waste.
• Drive Prepared Foods sales and profitability while improving menu and guest experience.
• Maintain organization, sanitation and adherence to food safety standards.

Joseph’s Classic Market is designed to be an alternative to a restaurant, where customers can enjoy chef-prepared, restaurant-quality meals at home. Our Prepared Foods department is the centerpiece of our store and one of the biggest reasons our customers choose Joseph’s.

We’re looking for an Executive Chef to take ownership of the culinary operation. This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone who wants to lead from the kitchen, develop a strong team, maintain exceptional standards, and build a Prepared Foods department they can be proud of.

What You’ll Own

• Food & Execution: Ensure exceptional taste, freshness, consistency, presentation, recipe execution, and availability every day.
• People & Leadership: Lead, train, develop, schedule, and hold the kitchen team accountable while building a culture of pride, urgency, and teamwork.
• Kitchen Operations: Own daily production, purchasing, inventory, pars, food cost, labor, waste, sanitation, and overall kitchen organization.
• Performance & Growth: Drive Prepared Foods sales and profitability while identifying opportunities to improve the menu, products, processes, and customer experience.
• Standards & Safety: Maintain an organized, inspection‑ready kitchen and consistently enforce Joseph’s standards for food safety, cleanliness, equipment, and operational execution.

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum 2–3 years of kitchen management, culinary leadership, or high‑volume food production experience
• Strong knowledge of cooking methods, ingredients, recipes, equipment, production, and kitchen procedures
• Proven ability to lead, coach, and hold a culinary team accountable
• Strong understanding of production planning, labor, inventory, food cost, and waste
• High standards for food quality, presentation, cleanliness, and consistency
• Ability to communicate expectations clearly and follow through on priorities
• A genuine passion for food, hospitality, and serving people
• Ability to work in a hands‑on kitchen environment, including prolonged standing and lifting up to 50 pounds
