Job summary

Joseph’s Classic Market is seeking an Executive Chef / Kitchen Manager to lead our Prepared Foods operation in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. You’ll manage daily production, uphold quality standards, and drive food safety, costing, and team performance.

You will shape menus, mentor culinary staff, and collaborate across departments to deliver exceptional guest experiences in a fast-paced kitchen and retail environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in culinary/kitchen environments (retail or catering preferred).
• Culinary degree or food service certification preferred.
• ServSafe or food safety certification or willingness to obtain.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, kitchen operations, and recipe execution.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs, stand for long hours, and work in hot/cold conditions.
• Excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills.
• Flexible availability including weekends, holidays, and evenings.

Responsibilities

• Culinary Operations: supervise daily production of prepared foods, ensure recipes are followed, maintain portioning and presentation, schedule production to meet demand, oversee holiday menus.
• Food Safety & Sanitation: enforce ServSafe/HACCP standards, maintain clean prep areas, monitor temperatures, lead sanitation schedules, prepare for audits.
• Inventory & Cost Control: order ingredients, manage inventory, minimize waste, monitor food cost targets, coordinate catering supplies.
• Hire, train, and lead cooks, prep staff, and kitchen porters; provide coaching and performance feedback.
• Monitor attendance and enforce scheduling and timekeeping; document performance issues and apply corrective actions.
• Lead daily pre-shift huddles and foster accountability and teamwork.
• Catering & Guest Service: oversee catering production and on-time delivery, support customer service with product knowledge.
• Reporting & Communication: submit weekly reports, participate in menu planning, coordinate with other departments.
