Job Summary

Morrison Healthcare is seeking an experienced and passionate Executive Chef to lead kitchen operations at a 300-bed acute care hospital in New York, NY. This role is perfect for an energetic, entrepreneurial culinary professional with a strong background in healthcare and retail foodservice. The Executive Chef will report to the Director of Food Services and oversee both patient dining and retail food operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and execute regular and modified patient and retail menus based on established nutrition and culinary guidelines
• Ensure food quality, portion control, and presentation meet company standards
• Train and supervise kitchen staff in food preparation, safety, equipment use, and sanitation
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and oversee maintenance schedules for all foodservice equipment
• Manage food and non-food inventory to align with budget and ensure product availability
• Implement and monitor compliance with federal, state, and local health regulations
• Optimize the use of leftover food products in compliance with company policies
• Participate in staff development, departmental meetings, and continuous improvement efforts
• Maintain documentation such as production logs, waste sheets, and audits
• Champion safety policies and procedures across kitchen operations
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts or equivalent hands-on experience
• 3–5+ years of progressive kitchen or culinary management experience
• Strong hands-on culinary skills in institutional or high-volume settings
• Extensive catering experience a plus
• Experience in healthcare foodservice highly preferred
• Knowledge of food trends, sanitation standards, food cost control, and menu engineering
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Outlook, and internet-based tools
• ServSafe Certification strongly preferred
