Job description

We are a 66-seat, upscale casual Malaysian-fusion wellness restaurant with an additional 26 outdoor patio seats (open six months of the year). Located in Greenwood Village, Colorado, we serve a vibrant clientele that values nourishing food, dynamic flavors, and high-quality take-out.

This concept is new to the U.S. and is the first stateside expansion of a beloved Malaysian brand with 13 successful restaurants across Malaysia. We’re proudly located next door to our sister day spa Jalan Facial Spa (www.jalanspa.com), creating a one-of-a-kind wellness destination where great food, relaxation, and radiant health go hand in hand.

Our menu is built around fresh, whole ingredients, and draws on traditional Malaysian flavors fused with global wellness trends. We aim to support overall health, vitality, and glowing skin, guided by the belief that food is powerful, personal, and healing.

Position Overview :

We’re seeking a visionary Executive Chef to bring this dynamic concept to life in the U.S. As the culinary lead, you will oversee kitchen operations, inspire your team, and create food that delivers on wellness, flavor, and presentation. You will play a key role in shaping a concept designed for expansion while maintaining the authenticity and care that defines our brand.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED

  • 4+ years of culinary leadership experience, including managing a kitchen staff of 10+ members,
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to develop staff
  • Proven ability to manage high-volume service with efficiency (including in-house dining and take out business)
  • ServSafe certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)

PREFERRED

  • Culinary leadership experience in an Asian or Asian-fusion restaurant kitchens
  • Familiarity with Southeast Asian flavors and traditional ingredients, techniques, and contemporary applications
  • Proficiency with wok cooking techniques
  • Knowledge of wellness trends and ingredients that support whole-body health
  • Experience with new concept launches or brand expansions

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Lead, train, and manage the kitchen team in a high-quality, Malaysian-fusion wellness-focused operation
  • Modify existing recipes and / or develop new recipes on a seasonal basis in consultation with the Malaysian Culinary Team. Malaysian-fusion wellness dishes and menus that balance bold Malaysian and Southeast Asian flavors with accessibility for a U.S. audience. These dishes and menus need to reflect modern wellness trends and health-conscious preparation, with attention to overall health, aligning with the restaurant’s brand and guest expectations
  • Manage inventory, purchasing, and vendor relationships to source and manage high-quality ingredients with an emphasis on seasonal, fresh, and nutrient-dense options while managing food costs
  • Collaborate with spa staff and leadership on cross-promotions, seasonal wellness campaigns, and operational planning
  • Monitor and maintain food cost, labor targets, and profitability margins while upholding the highest standards of food safety and kitchen cleanliness
  • Input and maintain updated recipe cards into Toast POS / Xtra Chef for inventory and costing
  • Oversee robust take-out operations to ensure consistency, quality, and packaging excellence
  • Maintain compliance with all local health department regulations
  • Ensure seamless service for both dine-in and take-out guests
  • Foster a positive and professional kitchen environment focused on growth, collaboration, and culinary excellence
