Job summary

Howard University seeks a Professor and Chair to serve as the chief academic and administrative officer of the Department of Earth, Environment, and Equity. You will provide strategic leadership to advance teaching, research, and service while fostering a collaborative and student-centered environment.

Responsibilities include recruiting and developing faculty, managing budgets, advancing curriculum and accreditation, and securing external funding.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in academic leadership and strategic planning.
• Experience in higher education administration.

Responsibilities

• Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the Department.
• Lead faculty and staff recruitment, development, evaluation, mentoring, and retention.
• Manage departmental budgets, resources, facilities, and financial operations.
• Promote excellence in teaching, research, scholarship, and service.
• Support faculty research productivity, publication efforts, and grantsmanship.
• Secure external funding and participate in fundraising and advancement.
• Oversee curriculum development, assessment, accreditation, and continuous improvement.
• Promote student recruitment, retention, engagement, mentoring, and success.
• Develop productive relationships with alumni, community partners, industry representatives, and professional organizations.
