Job summary

CFS in New York City seeks a Chief Financial Officer to lead all finance functions for a $30M+ nonprofit, serving children and families. This rare opportunity places you on the executive leadership team, working directly with the CEO and Board to shape strategic financial direction.

You will oversee grants, contracts, budgeting, and compliance, manage a 10–12 person finance team, and drive modernization initiatives while ensuring sustainable operations and impactful community programs.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of senior nonprofit finance leadership experience?
• CPA and experience with NYC nonprofit organizations, government funding, and PASSPort preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead all finance, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and cash management functions
• Oversee government grants, contracts, Medicaid/Medicare billing, audits, and regulatory reporting
• Partner with the CEO and Board to provide financial strategy, analysis, and decision support
• Manage and develop a finance organization of 10-12 professionals across accounting, grants, billing, and financial operations
• Drive process improvements, internal controls, financial reporting enhancements, and systems modernization initiatives
