Job summary

New York Institute of Technology is seeking a Catering Operations Supervisor to support dining services across campus. You will plan, develop, and implement a comprehensive catering and executive program ensuring high-quality service for the community, executives, conferences, and VIPs.

You will lead staff, coordinate scheduling, and work with managers, chefs, and operation supervisors to ensure top-notch food production, presentation, and service.

Qualifications

• Degree in hotel and restaurant management or equivalent.
• Previous catering and high-end banquet service experience.
• Familiarity with Caterease or similar catering database system.
• Familiarity with POS systems.
• Advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible and demanding hours, including nights, holidays, and weekends when needed.
• Demonstrated ability and skills with supervision of entry level staff.

Responsibilities

• Create and plan marketing strategies for catering operations and ensure implementation on schedule.
• Interact daily with customers, planning and following up with contracts/service agreements.
• Develop a comprehensive catering program to ensure consistency and high quality.
• Provide high-quality service for community, executives, conferences, and VIPs.
• Manage staff and supervise catering drivers; train and schedule personnel.
• Oversee on-site food setup, display quality, and sanitation across units.
• Handle purchasing policies and food/supply purchasing as directed.
• Prepare payroll, invoices, inventories, and related reports.
• Assist the assistant director in developing campus business opportunities.
• Support other campus venues and events as needed.
