Job summary

Western University of Health Sciences seeks an Associate Vice President of Public Safety to lead campus security, emergency management, and environmental health & safety across California campuses. The AVP will shape strategy, supervise security staff, and partner with university leadership to ensure safety and compliance.

The role requires a sworn Peace Officer with 15+ years, leadership in multi-site operations, and strong regulatory knowledge (Clery Act, OSHA, Title IX).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Must be a current or retired sworn Peace Officer with 15+ years of experience, including 7+ years as a supervisor.
• 7+ years of leadership in public safety or campus security, preferably in higher education.
• Experience managing multi-site operations and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive public safety strategy aligned with WesternU’s mission and strategic plan.
• Direct supervision of Campus Security staff and campus safety leadership.
• Coordinate safety activities for multiple campuses and serve as liaison to university leadership and external agencies.
• Oversee training, drills, and compliance with Clery Act, OSHA, Title IX, and related regulations.
