Job summary

Montgomery College seeks an Associate Vice President for the Honors College and Interdisciplinary Programs to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight across honors education, collegewide institutes, and student-scholar initiatives.

The AVP will drive interdisciplinary programming, equitable access, and partnerships with campus and external entities, shaping experiential learning and undergraduate research across Montgomery County students.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required in a relevant field; doctorate preferred.
• 7–10 years of leadership experience in higher education.
• 5 years of full-time teaching at the postsecondary level.
• Experience in honors education and interdisciplinary programming.
• Experience leading high-impact practices such as undergraduate research, study abroad, service-learning, or global education.
• Experience managing academic programs, supervising staff, and budgets.
• Eligible applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Provide vision, leadership, and strategic direction for the Honors College and Collegewide Institutes.
• Advance interdisciplinary programming, experiential learning, and high-impact practices.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary initiatives across campuses and divisions.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to support student persistence and success.
• Ensure alignment with Academic Master Plan and Strategic Plan.

Education

Master’s degree in a relevant field

Doctorate or terminal degree preferred

7–10 years of leadership in higher education

5 years of postsecondary teaching experience

Experience in honors education and interdisciplinary programming

Experience leading high‑impact practices (undergraduate research, study abroad, service-learning, global education)

Experience managing academic programs, supervising staff, and budgets

Eligibility to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
