Job summary

Vance-Granville Community College seeks an Associate Vice President of Finance and Operations to lead college-wide financial operations, procurement, risk management, and auxiliary services under the VP/ CFO.

The role requires a strong track record in governmental accounting, budgeting, and internal controls, plus experience supervising professional staff; NC public education familiarity is preferred. In-office position, 8-5 schedule, full-time.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, public administration, or CPA or equivalent.
• Eight years of progressively responsible experience in accounting or financial administration.
• NC Contract Manager (NCCM) certification required or must be obtained within nine months of hire.
• Demonstrated experience in governmental accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, and audit processes.
• Demonstrated leadership and managerial experience supervising professional and administrative staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and operational management of college-wide finance, business operations, and auxiliary services under the direction of the Vice President of Finance and Operations.
• Oversee procurement, purchasing functions, contracts, and vendor relationships with emphasis on cost-effectiveness and compliance.
• Coordinate external financial audits and other required audits and reviews; respond to findings in a timely manner.
• Maintain risk management and insurance programs; ensure continuity of operations and safety across campus.
• Assist the VP in coordinating major initiatives and special projects; act as Acting VP during absence.
• Lead financial reporting, controls, and process improvements to support college objectives.
