Job description

As the Executive Assistant to the Vice Presidents, you’ll have a front-row seat (and an active hand) in the projects and initiatives that shape our entire university system. From academic innovations and student success to university relations and financial strategy, your work will directly support leaders driving UA’s future. This is not merely a sit and see position; this is an engaged, forward-thinking, take-the-initiative position ideal for a person willing to work hard in a fast-paced environment that values positivity, enthusiasm, and professionalism.

Our three Vice Presidents oversee a wide range of critical university functions:

  • Academics, Students & Research: Advancing academic affairs, research initiatives, workforce programs, student success efforts, and distance education.
  • University Relations, Strategy & Budget: Securing state and federal support and serving as the primary liaison to the legislature and governor.
  • Finance: Safeguarding UA’s financial health and managing essential financial resources.

This position reports to the Executive Operations Manager and is part of the Vice-Presidential support team. Your role as Executive Assistant is to provide essential assistance to the Vice Presidents and their respective departments in procurement, communications, scheduling, records management, travel coordination, and more. You will be expected to solve complex problems, help prepare leaders for meetings, and build relationships across all MAUs, often from a distance. High levels of trust and strong communication skills are key.

This is an in-person, full-time, year round position located in the President’s Suite at the UAF Butrovich Building, offering paid sick leave, paid annual leave, and education benefits. If you’re ready to contribute meaningfully, stay curious, and be part of a team shaping the University of Alaska’s next chapter, we’d love to meet you.

Minimum Qualifications

Three years college coursework and three years progressively responsible experience related to the program specialty, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
