Job summary

Education Travel & Culture (ETC) seeks a Local Coordinator to connect high school exchange students with host families and provide local support. This part-time hybrid role offers flexibility and community impact, with training and ongoing support from ETC.

As an LC, you will expand our program’s reach, build relationships with families and schools, and promote international understanding while earning supplemental income through recruitment and student supervision.

Responsibilities

• Engage in person with exchange students, host families, and local high schools with monthly meetings and orientations.
• Represent and promote ETC in the community through social media, email marketing, press releases, and local media.
• Independent contractor role, flexible schedule (5-10 Hours/Month), mostly from home.
• Annual performance-based incentive trips including international travel opportunities.
• Potential for growth into a management position.

We are a family comprised of hundreds of employees, independent contractors, volunteers, and host families who are passionate about education, travel, and culture. Since 1998, ETC has provided opportunities for high school students around the world to study in an American high school and live with an American family.

Today, we are privileged to connect students from 13+ different countries with loving volunteer host families across the U.S. for either a semester or academic school year. ETC maintains a professional staff and a network of volunteers as well as Local Coordinators throughout the country that serve as the local support for the students, host families, and schools.

Role Description

This is a part-time hybrid role for an ETC Local Coordinator. As an ETC Local Coordinator, you will play a vital role in connecting high school exchange students with host families and providing local support to both students and their host families. You will help ensure a successful and enriching experience for both parties and contribute to promoting international understanding and cultural exchange.

As a Local Coordinator (LC), you play a vital role in expanding our program’s reach, contributing to the success of our mission and ensuring a positive experience for all program participants.

Key responsibilities include:

• Establish and nurture relationships with potential host families, school administrators, and community influencers
• Identify, recruit and screen qualified host families. ETC provides training on proven methods for locating high quality host families and marketing materials to use for your recruitment efforts.
• Engage in person with exchange students, host families, and local high schools including monthly meetings, group student activities and periodic orientations. ETC provides comprehensive training to support all working with our students and families.
• Represent and promote ETC in your community through social media, email marketing, press releases, local media, and other avenues.
• This is an independent contractor position that is family-friendly, flexible, and complements a busy schedule (5-10 Hours/Month). Much of your work can be from home and on your own schedule.
• Annual performance-based incentive trips including international travel opportunities.

• Learn about a new culture while working alongside high-school exchange students and their host families.

Compensation:

Up to $1,700 per full year student (placed with a host family and supervised), bonuses as well as travel incentives.

NOTE: Salary range is based on average supplemental income per year. However, there is no limit on the amount a local coordinator can earn annually.

• As an independent contractor, you can earn supplemental income based on successful host family recruitment efforts and supporting students while they are here in the U.S.A.
• Ability to earn various bonus and incentives throughout the year
• Local Coordinators active with ETC for 2+ years can earn additional compensation for recruitment and supervision.
• You can also qualify for the 5–7 day ETC Annual Travel Incentive Trip. Prior Incentive trip locations include:
• Italy, Cozumel, Maui, Germany, Costa Rica, Spain, Japan, Cancun and more!
• Rio De Janeiro is scheduled for FALL 2026 with a qualification deadline of August 15.
