Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeking an exceptional children teacher to implement evidence-based instructional strategies aligned to individual IEPs. The role involves planning, delivering group and individual instruction, and following district policies under the principal’s direction.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in education, a valid NC teaching license, and experience designing lesson plans, assessing progress, and collaborating with school staff to support EC students’

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
• Master's degree in education preferred.
• Valid NC Teaching license in assigned area.
• Equivalent combination of experience and education.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures.
• Collaborate with administration and other educators to create the most complete educational environment for EC students.
• Follow established school procedures for crisis or emergency situations.
• Administer and interpret individual educational testing.
• Utilize data to ascertain progress towards academic and behavioral/emotional goals.
• Establish clear objectives for all academic and pro-social skills lessons and design instruction accordingly.
• Modify curriculum/instruction to meet students' needs as documented on IEPs.
• Use positive behavior strategies to support student behavior.
