Job summary

Thompson is seeking an EC Small Group Instruction Teacher to provide education and guidance to youth ages 0-18 and their families across the Carolinas. You will learn and implement Thompson's processes, maintain open communication, and uphold organizational values while delivering trauma-informed instruction.

The role involves teaching middle to high school ELA and foundational math, with a strong emphasis on mentoring and high-quality education.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field required.
  • NC Teacher License required.
  • Exceptional Children Certification required.
  • Experience with youth from K-12 is expected.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and have strong communication skills.
  • Driver's license with clean driving record required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support, education, and guidance to youth in care.
  • Learn and apply organization systems and procedures.
  • Remain open to coaching/feedback on performance.
  • Contribute to a positive team culture through actions and communication.
  • Represent the organization in internal and external settings.
  • Apply trauma-informed instructional practices in interactions with students, peers and leadership.

What will you do as a EC Small Group Instruction Teacher?
  • EC Small Group Instruction Teacher's primary responsibility is to provide support, education, and guidance to the youth in their care.
  • Learn and utilize the organization’s systems, processes and procedures as instructed
  • Display a high degree of being open to coaching/feedback regarding performance
  • Contribute to a positive team culture through your actions, attitude, and communication
  • Represent the organization internally and externally through your communication and conduct
  • Display trauma informed instructional practices and principles in your interactions with students, with peers and with leadership.
  • Provide high quality education, guidance, mentoring and support to the children in your program
  • Teach middle-high school classes (ELA (Literacy and Writing and some foundational math skills)

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field with 3 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Comfortable with foundational mathematics
  • NC Teacher License Required
  • Exceptional Children Certification Required
  • Experience with youth ranging from K-12th grade
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite application software, excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • A valid Driver's license, at least 3 years of driving with a driver's license and clean driving record are required.
