Position Summary

Operate one or several types of power construction equipment to excavate, move, and/or grade material.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Operate a variety of vehicles and heavy equipment for maintenance and repairs on roads and rights-of-way, including loading, hauling, and dumping on various surfaces.
2. Load gravel, dirt, and sand; smooth and grade roads; spread rock and gravel.
3. Construct ditches for culverts, water, and sewer pipes; remove silt and debris.
4. Check and maintain equipment fluid levels and lubrication.
5. Train employees in safe equipment operation and job techniques (if asked).
6. Inspect equipment, structures, or materials for errors, problems, or defects.
7. Estimate sizes, distances, quantities, and determine time, costs, and resources needed.
8. Inspect subordinate's work for compliance, identify deficiencies, and take corrective actions.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience.
• Strong skills and abilities for the position.
• Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively.
• Proficient in the safe use of tools and measurement devices.

Requirements:

• Ability to move around a construction site, including standing, walking, reaching, and crawling.
• Work outdoors in changing weather conditions.
• Work irregular hours, including weekends, overtime, and holidays.
• Climb ladders and scaffolds, possibly exceeding 200 feet.
• Work in confined, cluttered, and uneven spaces.
• Handle items up to 50 pounds.
• Possess required tools and possibly a U.S. Driver's License.
• Follow safety and project rules, and pass drug testing.
