Job summary

Cy-Fair Fire Department is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Technician (EVT Assistant) to join our fleet services team. Under the guidance of an experienced EVT, you will help ensure operational readiness of fire and EMS apparatus and perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and documentation in our shop and on-site.

The position is an hourly, non-exempt role with a 40-hour work week, potential overtime, and longevity pay increments.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma or GED.
• Preferred: ASE/EVT certifications or equivalent.
• Must meet fire service requirements and possess a valid Texas Class B driver’s license (or ability to obtain).
• Knowledge of NFPA standards relevant to emergency vehicle maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on department vehicles and equipment (in-shop and on-site).
• Conduct road tests to verify proper operation of vehicles.
• Document repair work in the computer system and fleet management databases.
• Maintain shop cleanliness and enforce safety procedures.
• Transport equipment between stations, shop, and vendors.
• Assist with mechanical repairs and facility maintenance as needed.
