Job summary

The Cy-Fair Fire Department is seeking an Emergency Vehicle Technician I (EVT) to inspect, maintain, diagnose, and repair emergency vehicles in compliance with NFPA 1071 and NFPA 1911. This hourly, non-exempt role supports the department’s safety, reliability, and readiness of apparatus.

The position includes pay incentives, a 40-hour work week, on-call rotation may be required, and comprehensive health, retirement, and education benefits.

Qualifications

• One year of automotive and repair experience.
• Ability to perform inspections and maintenance duties in accordance with NFPA 1911.
• Demonstrate knowledge, training, and experience related to emergency vehicle maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Perform general and preventive maintenance and body repair to department vehicles.
• Repair and replace defective or worn parts (e.g., starters, brakes, batteries).
• Perform minor electrical work and low-voltage diagnostics.
• Conduct oil changes, filter replacements, and engine tune-ups.
• Perform diagnostic testing on chassis systems and related components.
• Maintain shop cleanliness and document repair activities using computer systems.
• Transport vehicles and equipment as needed.
