Job summary

Baptist Health System in San Antonio is seeking a PRN Rotate Housekeeping Associate II to maintain cleanliness in patient areas, ER, ICU, and support spaces. You will use proper cleaning methods, handle trash and linen, and work with a team to keep the hospital welcoming and safe.

This role emphasizes infection control, safe handling of supplies, and flexible staffing to meet hospital needs. Prior cleaning experience in healthcare or hospitality is preferred, with English literacy required.

Qualifications

• Able to read, write and understand English.
• High School Graduate or 2 years of full-time environmental services experience.
• 2 years of cleaning experience in hospitality or healthcare; includes terminal cleaning.

Responsibilities

• Performs cleaning functions in assigned areas using prescribed methods.
• Maintains assigned equipment for cleanliness and has repairs done when necessary.
• Observes and reports on the need for repairs to equipment, furniture, building and fixtures.
• Applies proper infection control practices and isolation techniques.
• Performing other assigned tasks
• Accounts for cleanliness and neat appearance of assigned areas ensures that the schedule is complete, and instructions from the supervisors are followed.
• Utilizes tools, supplies and chemicals for their intended purposes so that equipment and hospital property are not damaged.
• Use good judgment and proper procedures in the performance of assigned tasks.
• Supports the mission and vision of the Baptist Healthcare System and demonstrates excellent customer service always.
• Understands and enforces system, departmental and hospital policies and procedures as well as established rules and regulations.
• Train in other functions or positions to ensure satisfactory operation of the department/work unit or to permit flexible staffing assignments.
• Complies with System and facility safety policies and rules; utilizes appropriate safety equipment and procedures at all times; reports all unsafe conditions to supervisors; must be familiar with all safety features of equipment, tools or materials encompassed by job duties; and must check with supervisors if there is a question as to the safe procedure to be used for any job function.
• Demonstrates ability to work in a fast-paced and customer service-oriented environment and to perform duties and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
• Completes assignments independently and works as part of a team; takes instructions from supervisors; exercises problem-solving skills; and interacts with co-workers, supervisors, patients, vendors and the public in a professional and pleasant manner.
