Pay Range
$19.80 - $29.70
Major Responsibilities
- Scrub, strip, polish and refinish floors using appropriate equipment and/or supplies.
- Operate various types of cleaning equipment, both mechanical and electrical, e.g. ringers, vacuum, electric floor machines, sweepers, etc.
- Clean or sanitize after emergency spill as requested.
- Analyze floor or carpet conditions and determine proper cleaning techniques, following department processes.
- Maintain hard surface floors and carpets following department processes.
- Exhibit timely and satisfactory completion of all job assignments.
- Exercise initiative by seeking additional tasks from group leader or other associates when time permits.
- Use and maintain equipment, keeping it clean and in good repair. Keep work area in orderly, clean and safe condition.
- Dispose of waste in a timely manner to assure hospital cleanliness.
- Collect hazardous and medical waste according to hospital processes/DOT/RSPA training provided; hazardous and pharmaceutical.
- Replace and transport sharps containers to waste staging area.
- Collect soiled linen.
- Remove and dispose of rubbish from selected areas, following safety guidelines.
- Separate regular and recycle trash according to procedure.
- Operate waste compactors safely and efficiently.
- Clean and/or sanitize all garbage/waste disposal containers.

Provides Support for the Following Services
- Arranges furniture for meeting, workshops and community affairs according to specification of responsible department/individual as required.
- Relocate furniture, equipment, etc., as requested.
- Completes terminal cleans as needed.
- Cross‑trained on discharge room cleans and OR cleaning to accommodate Hospital needs during peak periods or staffing needs, and completes Housekeeping Aide duties as needed.
- Completes discharge room clean following hospital process.
- Completes OR cleaning following hospital processes.
Demonstrates Commitment to Professional Growth and Competence
- Attends all mandatory departmental and hospital meetings and in‑services.
- Completes annual CBT's required.
- Follows written department goals and objectives, and reviews annually with Manager.
- Seeks education and learning experiences in areas of identified growth needs and reviews progress during annual evaluation.
Maintains Responsibility for Attendance and Punctuality
- Maintains proper attendance requirement outlined in the Hospital Policy and Procedure Manual.
- Plans for special days off in advance and submits written requests for time off to department management for approval per departmental guidelines.
- Requests PTO time in accordance with departmental policy.
- Provides adequate notice to department management absences, and in accordance with departmental policy calls two hours prior to the beginning of shift.
Education/Experience Required
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
- 1-2 years experience with prior housekeeping experience preferred.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
- Able to operate small electrical equipment i.e., vacuum cleaners.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English as related to the performance of the essential job activities outlined (including reading and comprehending chemical labels and other safety materials).
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Job responsibilities involve walking, standing, bending, climbing and lifting throughout the work day.
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For lifts over 35 pounds, lifting equipment is expected to be used or lift with at least one other associate when available. Unique lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case‑by‑case basis.
