Responsibilities
  • Clean and disinfect patient rooms, treatment areas, restrooms, offices, hallways, and common spaces according to established protocols using a variety of cleaning tools, equipment and chemicals.
  • Dust, clean, disinfect, and polish furniture and equipment per established cleaning protocols.
  • Follow infection prevention and control procedures to reduce the risk of hospital-acquired infections.
  • Safely handle, remove, and dispose of waste, including regulated medical waste, in compliance with hospital and regulatory guidelines.
  • Stock and maintain supplies in designated areas.
  • Operate and maintain cleaning equipment safely and properly.
  • Respond promptly to cleaning and service requests from staff and departments.
  • Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or needed repairs to the appropriate personnel.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and respect in all interactions with patients, visitors, and colleagues.
  • Maintain cleanliness of walls, windows, doors, and ceilings by performing spot cleaning as needed and completing scheduled wash and disinfection.
  • May assist with keeping entryways free of snow, ice and debris.
  • Adhere to hospital and departmental policies, procedures, safety standards, infection control practices, environmental guidelines, and quality assurance programs.

  • Demonstrates Clarke County Hospital Standards of Behaviors and adheres to hospital policies and procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance.
  • Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.
  • Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, DIA, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
  • Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
  • Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.
