Job summary

Advocate Health Care is seeking an Environmental Services Lead to supervise day-to-day EVS operations in a hospital setting. The role involves planning with supervisory staff, scheduling, and ensuring tasks are completed per EVS procedures, while maintaining strong customer service and safety standards.

The position requires a High School diploma or equivalent with leadership experience and at least 3 years in housekeeping.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; leadership experience preferred.
• 3 years experience with at least one in Housekeeping.
• Good communication skills, good organizational skills and excellent customer service.
• Must be able to communicate instructions.

Responsibilities

• Lead co-workers in the day-to- day operations of the Environmental Services department (EVS) program.
• Confers, plans ahead with supervisory staff, on job assignments, projects and activities.
• Verifies completion of all assigned duties/tasks by Environmental Services staff according to EVS procedures.
• Responsibility for assisting in scheduling of the Environmental Services staff.
• Adjusts the daily schedule to ensure proper staffing in all areas.
• Functions as Environmental Services Tech, knowing all positions/responsibilities within department.
• Role in Hazardous Materials, spills and disaster plans; assists in competencies; monitor Bed Tracking; monitors lunch and breaks; liaison between EVS and customers/staff as needed; coordinate projects/set ups; assist with room inspection high touch, etc.
• Issues key, pagers, equipment, etc; makes suggestions for work improvement.
• Supply and equipment use and maintenance; communicate to leadership associate performance, conduct, issues, etc.
• Assists in training and introducing new equipment and cleaning methods by demonstrating techniques and procedures.
• Inspects equipment and supplies for cleanliness and possible damage to ensure readiness for next shift.
• Customer Satisfaction - demonstrates commitment to satisfying customer needs and exceeding expectations; maintain courteous attitude; resolve complaints; handle confidential information; present department positively; use AIDET with customers; resolve interpersonal conflicts; support patients and staff in emergencies.
• Trains associates and assists in Department Orientation Process; maintains licenses and certifictes as appropriate; fulfills operating unit competencies and required training.
• Education/Experience Required: High School diploma or equivalent; leadership experience preferred; 3 years experience with at least one in Housekeeping.
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: Good communication, good organizational, excellent customer service, ability to communicate instructions.
