Atlantic Health Newton Medical Center is seeking a Per Diem Patient Transporter in Newton, New Jersey. Hours vary, including every other weekend. Starting rate is $20.52/hr with eligibility for Atlantic Health System #teenhiring initiative.

The role requires transporting and assisting patients, gathering and delivering items, and supporting admissions and discharge processes as needed within the hospital.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED/Equivalent required.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Ability to work well under time constraints.
• Exposed to extreme cold and extreme heat and stands for long periods, lifts/pushes/pulls up to 50 lbs.
• Must be 16 or older (NJ working papers).
• If 16 or 17, valid working papers required.

Responsibilities

• Ascertains patient name, destination, mode of travel, time, and other data.
• Guides or escorts incoming patients from admitting office or reception desk to designated area.
• Carries patient's luggage.
• Assists patient in walking to prevent accidents, or transports non-ambulatory patient by wheelchair.
• Transports patient, alone or with assistance, to designated areas within the facility.
• Delivers messages, mail, medical records, and other items.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Essential Function/Responsibilities:

• 1. Ascertains patient name, destination, mode of travel, time, and other data, following written or verbal instructions.
• 2. Guides or escorts incoming patients from admitting office or reception desk to designated area.
• 3. Carries patient's luggage.
• 4. Assists patient in walking to prevent accidents by falling, or transports non-ambulatory patient, using wheelchair.
• 5. Transports patient, alone or with assistance, in bed, wheeled cart, or wheelchair to designated areas within facility during patient stay.
• 6. Delivers messages, mail, medical records, and other items.
• 7. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

1. HS Diploma or GED/Equivalent required.
2. To provide a safe environment to our patients, we require that all candidates must be able to read, write and speak English.
3. Ability to work well under time constraints.
4. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to extreme cold and extreme heat and stands for long periods of time, bends, lifts, pushes and pulls up to 50 lbs.
5. Must be 16 or older (prior to hire, must complete NJA300 Combined Certification Form/Working Papers).
6. If 16 or 17 years-old valid working papers required.

Relevant Experience:

1. CPR certification preferred.
