The Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office is seeking an Evidence Room/Records Manager to support attorneys and staff by organizing case files and securely managing evidence. The role includes maintaining chain of custody, transporting evidence, and preparing reports for trial and administration.

The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience in administrative tasks. This is a full-time position with benefits, including OPERS.

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Customer service experience and computer experience.
  • Prior administration experience preferred; trustworthy and dependable.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and organize case files in the Criminal File Room.
  • Retrieve files upon request.
  • Maintain, organize and secure evidence and document chain of custody.
  • Ensure the proper chain of custody rules are followed.
  • Transport evidence to conference rooms, offices and courtrooms.
  • Maintain audio/visual equipment and related setup.
  • Copy records from CD, videotape, audiotape and paper.
  • Prepare weekly trial schedule and notify Admin staff of results.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly trial and conviction rate reports.
  • Receive, record and distribute parole notifications.
  • Create monthly parole board hearing schedule.
  • Conduct background checks from various agencies.
  • Interact professionally with office personnel, police and other agencies.

Job description

The Montgomery County Prosecuting Attorney will accept resumes for the position of Evidence Room/Records Manager until Friday, October 2, 2026. This is a full time, non-classified position with benefits, including OPERS. Annual salary range is $49,000.00 – $52,000.00.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY

The Evidence Room/Property Manager provides support for attorneys and other staff; is responsible for maintaining organization of case files and maintaining, securing and organizing all evidence retained by our office, and performs other related duties as set forth below under “Illustrative Duties”.

ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES
  • Maintain and organize case files and paperwork in the Criminal File Room;
  • Retrieve files upon request;
  • Maintain, organize and properly secure evidence and document chain of custody;
  • Ensure the proper chain of custody rules are followed;
  • Transport evidence to various conference rooms and offices and courtrooms;
  • Maintain audio/visual equipment, including delivery and set up when requested;
  • Copy records contained on CD, videotape, audiotape and paper;
  • Prepare weekly trial schedule and notify Administration staff of previous week’s trial results;
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly trial and conviction rate reports for Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys and Administration Staff;
  • Receive, record and distribute parole notifications to Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys;
  • Create monthly parole board hearing schedule;
  • Conduct background checks from various agencies;
  • Professionally interact with office personnel, police and other governmental agencies by email, telephone and in person;
  • Perform various other duties as needed.

Minimum High school diploma or GED; bachelor’s degree preferred. Customer service experience; computer experience; prior administration experience preferred; trustworthy and dependable; organized and meticulous; strong prioritization skills; quick learner with a positive attitude and ability to take direction from diverse sources.

Pay Range: $49,000-$52,000, commensurate with experience.

This is a full-time, unclassified position with benefits, including OPERS.

NECESSARY SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

Self-starter with strong oral and written communication skills; highly organized with the ability to prioritize and pay close attention to detail; ability to gather, analyze and classify data; knowledge of office practices and procedures; knowledge of office equipment, including computers, copiers, audio and visual equipment; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; capable of lifting 25 pounds; ability to develop and maintain an effective working relationship with supervisors and staff.
